It uses your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (the same one used for security-sensitive operations), not a weaker pseudo-random source that could theoretically be predicted.
A passphrase built from multiple random words is often easier to remember and type accurately, while still being very hard to guess, thanks to its large combined randomness.
Excluding characters like 1, l and I (which look alike in many fonts) makes a password easier to type correctly from a printed copy or when read aloud.
